My plug for "On a Roll"

I watched this Documentary a few months ago. This has to be the best program I have ever viewed on Disability issues and deserves the award "Joanne" the producer had a hunch to film Greg Smith as he followed his own person journey to have his own national radio talk show (Airs Sunday nights) I either catch a USA Station on line or listen to it posted after online on his "Strength Coach " website listed in my sidebar.

I wish I had the foresight to tape it but I found it on TV while mindlessly surfing in Febuary. He I think that maybe he has has my disability a form of Muscular Dystrophy (The medical professionals always referred to SMA as MD and many still do as it falls under the neuromuscular disorder umbrella but I'm assuming) I'm only assuming as Brad makes a point that lables are crap anyway. I'm only meantiong this because his childhood biography is remarkably similar to mine. Also I found a link fo it on the FSMA website.

It was an excellent program because most films I've seen are very superficial and portray people with disabilities as heroes rather than people with everyday situations, jobs, marriage, sex, divorce, income, family, attendants issues etc. And with extra obstacles such as transportation. Joanne also show the darker side as well as the positive side of living with a disability.

Joanne has a a unique insight, being his Best Friend's Mother, a neighbor, who happened to get in studying filmmaking. He insight in Greg's family situations and struggle to become the great man that he is. (she is speaking on his strength coach program this week). She had a window into his world that a stranger would not have. Greg shared his innermost feeling and even discussed sex in detail. Many of his views I share. This movie is an excellent teaching tool for adults.

I hope that I can do the same by creating awareness and positive change. I too want to people with disables to challenge them to have patience (and lots of it) and perseverance in order to follow there dreams.

I hope the rerun it so I can tape it. I may just buy it when I have the cash. I give it 5 stars out of 5. It is worth the $50 (amarican currency)

Last week he spoke on his radio program regarding Bill Cosby's comments about Blacks in America. His reaction might surprise you and may apply to people with disabilities too.
