Memories. Present days and future flowers

I am still waiting to get in again to the internist (but the last time healed before I saw him..I think he my think we are hallucinating) about my Houdini of a g-tube...Today on my way to my appointment with Dr. Mahood while in my van I felt a popping sensation in my stomach. We stopped and checked it stayed in..It was taped down well..I went to the washroom and Annette put in some dry dressings..and again when I got home looked fine (on the outside) .No word yet .. It was healed last week but tried to escape up again today. It was leaking and almost came out but had settled but later the rumbling was that my balloon had burst. I was lucky it stayed in .

On a positive note went for an appointment today to see Dr, Mahood for an assessment on my back. GOOD OLD DR. Brian GREENHILL (MyDr. who sort of retired since the 80's) I have known him since kindergarten he preformed all 3 of my spinal surgeries and a small hip operation and he happened to be the office serendipitously . He now consults Lawyers and Insurance claims. I guess he worked in Saudi Arabia for many years but had to come back to Canada due to the turmoil there. I last saw him around 1981-82 and Dr. Mahood (Greenhill's former student) currently partners with Dr. B. Greenhill's son) in 1998. Dr. Greenhill indecently was the Dr who diagnosed Cleo (still beloved ex-momp Mon #2) when she had her major car accident in Hinton which fractured he lower back. He was one of the worlds best surgeon and always was flying away to other countries to perform surgery.

I went mainly because Dr. Murgi and myself were concerned about managing pain in the future as well as managing Osteoporosis; what happens if I live until 65? Should I be doing something else? There is a spot around right scapula wpinched. WhateWhat what is causing it? (see attached photo) That I found out ,is caused by the top of the rod irradiation to the muscle but otherwise both Dr.s seemed pleasantly surprised at how well I looked and was doing. ..That was a reliAlso.also there is pressure on my g-tube should not be the main cause of my g-tube but did not want to speculate out of his field...After today I am not so sure. And..and However my body itself will not explode …yet….. from my frame collapsing on my organs ...Whew. ...Although the rods curve the are not falling aAhoy yesyesssss…after being in over 25 years they are still keeping my internal organs protected…wow…yeah. I am a tough old bird.

I am taking oral & nose spay calcium. Dr. Greenhill looked (My Mom always liked him) slightly older but he looked Distinguishedtinguished Grandpa type. Dr. Mahood said that, he and Greenhill were both extremely happy to see me. My friend Mike drove because I could not get a booking for DATS even though I called on the earliest Day I could book . Apparently they were swamped with calls before me. I called immediately after I got in my chair so could not have called any earlier They sent an LPN (Annette) with me which was good for my dignity to have during the exam and gave Mike a chance to learn how to work my van, lift, etc with worrythe suctioningsuctioning. My chauffeur in training.

.Last Friday, I had x-rays at the Glenrose and also has a sticky time getting a booking then as well (I thought they DATS 90++ Dats buses the City of Edmonton purchased last year..They were using less than half). So I took the LPN (Johny) for a trip down memory lane as we had 2 1/2 hours Before our pick up timeaWOWIt is the same old place with the exception of s to a few areas. I saw my old kindergarten…grades 2..3..4..5..6 classroom..The lunchroom (now a teens centre)..Courtyard...Library…Station 201 …The Gym & pool were closed .

Since the orthopedic appointment was so close they gave me the x-rays to take with me. I peeked and Mike got a photo of one ocan best he can2xxatrium coffee 2x atrum located on the 3rdiful atr3rddfloorhe 3rd fpart. Ityhe newest part.It was a nice day.

I am not sitting well though during the x-ray because the technician (who was the most experienced one in working with someone like myself that I have had in years took only 2 shots total front & lateralÂ…no booboos all in 15 min) and had t put the plate be hind me. Johny had to support my trunk so my head flopped forward. This is otherwise fairly close to the way I sit otherwise.

Also I have been invited to participate in the planning of a ventilator conference hosted by the Premier's Council on the Status of Disabled Persons and The Office of Disability Issues. The Idea Stemmed from Gary McPherson and my letters on the issues and advanceVentilators UnfortunatelythUnfortunatelyytors. Unfortunatly the sudden passing of Ewen Nelson a few months ago also helped catapult this venture but has validated many concernEwen a model raised. Ewemodella great role modle for those of us with disabilities I will try to compile a tribute to him from some wonderful emails sent by those closest to him. The committee are a great group of professionals, consumers, and advocates who are planning this. I usually feel lost in such a group this cause is something that I feel passionate about. My insite from my living with this situation me at eapositivesvaspectsspossitive To goects of living togh the vent how tos, tips and hopefully lead to further planning and advocacy. I will bring you more info when I know more.

Honestly,

Is there any more to you? All you blog about is your disability and all of your problems? How can you expect to be an equal member of society when this is your only focus???? Why would you feel compelled to share details of your medical exam?

The topic of my blog was to share the journey of working in a system of politics. Things that are wonderful exciting things are happening. But this materal is the topic of my blog. I have out lived my life expectancy by 35 years so my life is a miracle and I plan on living a long life. But now I am pinned in a cornor but have to fight for quality of life. I have a tonne of goals but had run into a wall for now
I am very excited that this conference is going to be a product of lot of hard work. If I could get an attendant I would be auditing courses. I know other provinces and states give more supports for people on ventilator's to get out. It is not the case in Alberta.

I had toiled about the medical part but the truth is this group becomes very isolated and need to know there is hope. I read another blog awhile ago and this guy has the same thing I have. I was surprised and shocked that he showed his x-rays, but realized it was interesting. My rods have lasted over 25 years, a point that I was tryin to make when I was discussing running into my old doctor. It is the truth -- why sugar coat and disguise the issue.

I did not know about g-tube issues before I had mine done, but found out by a new penpal's e-mail that they can easily come out regularly. I know that there are other out there who a going through this and may be alone. This may not be of interest to you but I'm sure it will be to others in a similar situation.

I am sorry you seem to only see the negative but if you really carefully read it, I was quite excited. This subject matter is the topic of my blog. I have other interests besides advocacy; however, my intrests in books, photography, movies are a subject for a different blog which I may create at another time.

At this time, my passion is in advocacy. Sometimes you have to talk about the negative in order to bring out the positive.
